All students, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate the grand opening of the new Center for Writing Excellence from 4:30-6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, on the first floor of Belk Library.
The event offers opportunities to see the center’s collaborative space and speak with the its directors, its Belk librarian partners and its student Writing Center consultants about the many kinds of writing support offered to the entire Elon community, such as:
– NEW, EXPANDED SERVICES in the Writing Center for students, faculty, and staff
– GRANTS of up to $5,000 for faculty and staff projects to improve student writing
– WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS to help faculty and staff elevate students’ writing abilities
– SUPPORT for all faculty and staff writing
Ice cream sundaes and fruit will be served.
The Center for Writing Excellence is among the many programs established by the Writing Excellence Initiative, the goal of which is to affirm writing as one of the signature elements of an Elon education and of the Elon community. Last spring, the Writing Excellence Initiative, which is Elon’s Quality Enhancement Plan, was praised as a national model by reviewers by Elon’s accrediting agency, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
