Jeff Carpenter, assistant professor of education, presented recently at three different conferences on uses of the micro-blogging service Twitter in different education settings.
On Sept. 20, Carpenter and Lenoir Rhyne University colleague Jayme Linton gave a presentation titled “Educators’ Uses of Twitter for Professional Learning” at the North Carolina Association of Colleges of Teacher Education Fall Forum in Raleigh, N.C. Carpenter and Linton spoke specifically to how teacher educators can use Twitter with their teacher education students.
On Oct. 4, Carpenter gave a presentation titled “Using Twitter to Extend and Democratize the Classroom Space” at the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference in Raleigh, N,C. Carpenter explained research he has done on the required use of Twitter in one of his Elon courses.
On Oct. 11, Carpenter and Forest View High School English teacher Andrew Thomasson gave a presentation titled “Why and How English Teachers Should Be On Twitter” at the North Carolina English Teacher Association Conference in Wilmington, N.C. Carpenter and Elon alum Megan Justice ’11 also gave a presentation titled “Tech Tools to Support the Writing Process” at the same conference.
