Students in Project Management MGT410 held the Elon Department of Management’s inaugural Meet & Greet event allowing students to network with company representatives, which included alumni, meet employers and discuss employment and internship opportunities.
More than 50 business majors attended the inaugural Management Meet and Greet held on Nov. 19. Matthew Valle, Martha and Spencer Love Term Professor of Management, assigned his management students to organize and host this event.
The purpose of the Meet & Greet was to provide the opportunity for students to meet professionals in the management field and build relationships for mutual benefit.
Seven Elon alumni attended the Meet & Greet as company representatives. They were Ashley Eanes G’08 and Bob Hill G’01 with Duke Energy; Caleb Luther ’11, Tim O’Boyle ’12 and Samantha Satzger ’12 with SAP; Ron Oldham G’13 with SAS; and Matthew Knapp ’11 with Piper Enterprise Solutions.

“I am pleased and proud of the work of the MGT 410 student project leadership team in developing and executing this inaugural Management Department Meet & Greet event,” Valle said. “The company representatives were as impressed with our students as our students were with the companies participating.
“Opportunities such as this, where students are given the responsibility to plan, organize and lead a significant activity, are further proof that Elon students continue to excel in learning by doing.”
The students in MGT410 who organized the event were Deanna Andolina ’14, Justin Choe ’14, Alexandra Silverman ’14, Travis Sprague ’14 and Parker Ulry ’14.
“In planning this meet and greet, I learned that cooperation was key to its success,” Sprague said. “The combined efforts of our project management team, the management department, career services and many others allowed us to create an incredibly successful event on short notice.”
“Hopefully it can turn into an annual occurrence that provides management students with networking skills that will set them up better for life after Elon.”
The event was co-sponsored by the Love School of Business Department of Management and Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE), the professional management fraternity.
