Assistant professor of mathematics Chad Awtrey and mathematics and physics double major Christopher Shill '14 have published a research article on the intersection of p-adic numbers and Galois theory.
This paper marks the first fruits of Awtrey’s and Shill’s collaboration, and it was supported in part by an Elon FR&D Summer Research Fellowship (for Awtrey) and a Rawls Scholarship (for Shill). Shill also presented this research at four different venues during the 2012 calendar year.
