Information regarding weather delays for students traveling to campus

Elon students who are delayed in traveling back to campus for Winter Term should read this note from Vice President Smith Jackson.

Elon students who are away from campus and unable to return for classes on Tuesday due to delays in travel plans related to severe weather, or due to unsafe traveling conditions, should send an email to Smith Jackson, vice president for student life and dean of students, at vpstudentlife@elon.edu. Dr. Jackson’s office will notify faculty members about the delay in your travel plans. Students prevented from traveling safely will not be penalized for not returning to campus due to safety concerns or transportation delays.

In addition, recent weather conditions have created travel challenges for many students going abroad in January. Any student having difficulty making a scheduled departure flight may wish to call directly to the Aladdin travel emergency hotline at 336-499-6717.

Students also can call the Isabella Cannon Global Education Center at 336-278-6700 during normal office hours or by calling 336-278-5555 outside of normal office hours to be directed to the appropriate Elon University staff member.

More than 700 students are traveling with more than 50 faculty and staff during January.
