The American College Personnel Association’s Standing Committee on Men and Masculinities will present Darris R. Means, associate director of the Elon Academy, and Donald Mitchell Jr., assistant professor of higher education at Grand Valley State University, with the Outstanding Research Award in March.
The award recognizes an individual or individuals who have completed exceptional journal quality research regarding men’s development in higher education.
Mitchell and Means’ published an article titled, “‘Quadruple Consciousness’: A Literature Review and New Theoretical Consideration for Understanding the Experiences of Black Gay and Bisexual Men at Predominantly White Institutions.” The article was published in the Journal of African American Males in Education.
