A free screening of the award winning documentary, "The City Dark," will take place Wednesday, February 26 in McKinnon Hall at 7 p.m.
Featuring stunning astrophotography and a cast of eclectic scientists, philosophers, historians, and lighting designers,”The City Dark“ explores the question “Do we need the dark?”. This fun and thought provoking film from the co-creator of King Corn unravels the myriad implications of a globe glittering with lights—including impacts on wildlife, increased breast cancer rates from exposure to light at night, and a generation of kids without a glimpse of the universe above.
“The City Dark“ draws attention to issues not generally mentioned in converstations about energy conservation. The screening is sponsored by the Office of Sustainability to kick-off POWERless, a three week energy conservation competition.
