Elon University closed for Thursday, Feb. 13

Due to the continuing winter storm, Elon's main campus will be closed tomorrow. Read this note for full details.

To Elon Students, Faculty and Staff,

The National Weather Service winter storm warning for the Elon area continues through Thursday evening, with snow and potential ice continuing to accumulate.

Elon University closed on Thursday, Feb. 13

All university offices will be closed on Thursday, except for those noted below. All emergency and essential personnel should report to campus by 8:00 a.m., provided they can travel safely.

Thursday operating hours:

MOSELEY CENTER                 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.       

CAMPUS RECREATION           8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

HEALTH SERVICES                10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (for walk-in emergencies only; students should reschedule routine/physical/or allergy appointments).

BELK LIBRARY                       10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

DINING SERVICES: Acorn will open at 8 a.m. Lakeside and Winter Garden will open at 11 a.m. Other locations will open as employees arrive on campus.  Dining services will alert students by social media as other locations open.

Remember that Campus Police and Security is open 24 hours per day and can be reached at 336.278.5555 if you need assistance. They can also contact the Administrator-on-Call if needed.

CAMPUS SERVICES FOR TONIGHT

DINING SERVICES    Colonnades, Lakeside, Winter Garden, Acorn & Chick-fil-a open until 8 p.m. Other locations are closed.

MOSELEY CENTER                Open until 10 p.m.      

CAMPUS RECREATION         Open until 10 p.m.

 BELK LIBRARY                      Open until 6 p.m.

SPECIAL EVENT TONIGHT:  Hillel is providing a spaghetti dinner in the Numen Lumen Pavilion from 5:30- 7:30 pm tonight. The menu is all-you-can-eat assorted pasta, sauce, cheese, garlic bread, salad, and dessert. Donations will be accepted ($5/person recommended) to help fund the Hillel Alternative Spring Break trip to New Orleans with the Jewish Farm School. All are welcomed.

CONTINGENCY PLAN FOR POWER OUTAGE ON CAMPUS

PLACES to GATHER/SLEEP:   Moseley Campus Center. Students would need to bring pillows, blankets, etc.

DINING SERVICES:   Colonnades Dining Hall open from 11 am to 6 pm tomorrow: menu will be hot soup, sandwiches, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, etc. in a.m.

CARD SWIPES in residence halls:       Battery backup lasts 3 hours. Residence Life staff will post signs to indicate which doors will be staffed to let students into buildings.

NOTE:   It is advisable to go ahead, charge your cell phone and other electronic devices now, and locate your flashlight and extra batteries if you have them.

Students are reminded to be safe, especially when outside. As the weather becomes colder and icier tonight, conditions may become more hazardous, increasing the potential for injuries and cold exposure. Refrain from driving in these conditions. Remember to look out for one another and call 911 if any emergency situations arise- the 911 dispatcher will coordinate with campus and local police and other emergency agencies to ensure the quickest response. In addition, Campus Police and Security is open 24 hours per day and can be reached at 336.278.5555 if you need assistance.
