Critic Terry Teachout compliments work by the associate professor of performing arts for costume designs in the "The Life & Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, Parts I and II" being performed by the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre.
In his review of the stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic novel, WSJ writer Terry Teachout said Smith’s “period costumes are just right.”
Before coming to Elon in 2003 as the first full-time faculty member in costume design, Smith worked for the Orlando Shakespeare Festival, The Mad Cow Theater, The University of Central Florida and Disney Productions. His work has also been exhibited at an international theatrical design competition in Prague.
He teaches costume design, introduction to theatre, costume construction, theatre history and literature, theatrical make-up, and global studies courses.
