Katie Nash, special Collections librarian and archivist, and Marna Winter, lecturer in the School of Education, presented at the annual LAUNC-CH conference in Chapel Hill, N.C., on March 10, 2014.
Their presentation, “Restoration and Research in Real Time: Bringing an 1850s One Room Schoolhouse Back to Life,” focused on the collaboration between the School of Education and Belk Library that enabled undergraduate education majors to research and recreate the interior of the Cable School, which is located behind the Alumni Field House.
Nash and Winter highlighted the semester long class assignment, the research process, and the teaching candidates role in simulating a one room schoolhouse lesson plan for local elementary school students.
