Due to the overnight ice storm, Elon's main campus and its law school in downtown Greensboro, N.C., will be closed. Read this note for important information on campus operations.
4:50 P.M. UPDATE: Power has been restored to the Station at Mill Point residential neighborhood and other facilities on South Campus.
1:15 P.M. UPDATE: All activities and events are canceled, including Fellows Weekend events for Friday evening. Conditions are very dangerous outside with limbs falling and slick conditions. Many power lines off campus remain down. All students are being advised to stay indoors.
11:30 A.M. UPDATE: The Physician Assistant Studies program open house scheduled for Saturday, March 8, has been CANCELLED. Registrants are also being notified via email.
10 A.M. UPDATE: Due to inclement weather and power outages, the Elon University main campus and law school are closed for Friday, March 7, 2014. Classes and all events, including the faculty meeting, are cancelled.
Lakeside Dining is currently open for continental breakfast. McEwen Dining will open per normal schedule for lunch. All other dining areas, including The Acorn, are closed. Belk Library, Moseley, and Campus Recreation are open. Students may take showers in the Koury Athletic Center; students will need to bring towels and toiletries. Health Services will be open from noon to 3 p.m. today. The Danieley tram is running; the off-campus shuttles are not operating.
Due to downed power lines in areas surrounding the campus, it is advisable to stay off the roads. On campus, please stay indoors as much as possible. When outside, watch for falling limbs.
Students should stay in contact with faculty via online tools, like Moodle and email, complete work as assigned in the syllabus, and be prepared for their next class meeting.
Faculty should take full advantage of online tools to help student prepare appropriately for the next class and to communicate clearly how they will maintain high expectations despite calendar changes.
