Economics students present research at conference

Senior economics majors Nathan Dean, Angie Jackson, Bryn Khoury and Garrett Mann presented their research at the Eastern Economic Association’s annual conference March 7-9 in Boston.

The conference’s ten undergraduate sessions sponsored by Issues in Political Economy (IPE) brought together more than 50 students from 20 colleges and universities throughout the country. Students came from institutions such as American University, Furman University, Gettysburg College, Grinnell College, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Stonehill College, St. Lawrence University and The College of New Jersey.

The four Elon papers presented were:

Garrett Mann, “Middle East Miracle:  Are Recent High Levels of Growth Sustainable?” (mentor: Steve DeLoach)

Issues in Political Economy is the leading undergraduate research journal in economics and is co-edited by undergraduates at Elon University and the University of Mary Washington. Elon has co-edited the journal since 1998. The IPE is indexed in Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Economics & Finance. Steve DeLoach serves as the journal’s faculty advisor.
