In a Hillel International website news story, Elon University is the first school named among "up-and-coming stars" that might be "the perfect fit" for students seeking a vibrant Jewish life on their future college campuses.
Elon Hillel was featured March 12, 2014, in a news story on Hillel International’s website in which seven American universities were lauded for the quality of Jewish life programs but may not be among the first schools Jewish students consider when applying to college.
From Hillel International’s news story:
“Elon Hillel has grown rapidly over the past five years. Located in central North Carolina, Elon Hillel has become an integral part of Elon University campus life. It’s part of the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, and works closely with the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and the Multicultural Center. Elon Hillel prides itself on its extraordinary spirit of inclusivity and welcoming, and it engages over 70 percent of first-year Jewish students in Jewish life on campus. The Sklut Hillel Center is intentionally designed to feel like a comfy Jewish home, and over 350 students regularly come in. To top it off? It has a dairy kitchen and an outdoor meat kitchen.“
The other six schools on the list were the University of Washington, the College of Charleston, the University of Rhode Island, the University of Colorado, Boulder, Duke University and the University of Delaware.
