Winners of more than $5,000 in prizes for outstanding student writing will be revealed by the Writing Excellence Inititiave at College Coffee, March 18.
The Writing Excellence Initiative will reveal winners of the Human Rights and Social Justice Writing Contest at an Awards Ceremony during College Coffee on March 18. Panels of faculty and staff judges will name the three winners for Judges Grand Awards in each of six categories.
In addition, winners of the People’s Choice competition, for which students cast nearly 1000 votes, will be announced.
The writing contest’s six categories are research papers, journalism, electronic media, creative writing, photography and world languages. The latter category is for entries written in a language other than English. There is also a special seventh category for legal writing by students in the Elon University School of Law.
Winners will receive a $200 gift card to Barnes & Noble and a signed award certificate. Overall, the Writing Excellence Initiative will be distributing more than $5,000 in prizes.
All contest entries may be viewed at the Writing Center website. After the Awards Ceremony, the Award Winners will be highlighted there, and the other entries will remain available for reading.
