Elon University’s Model UN team participated in three conferences this season and contributed to several committees at various programs including rebels in the Cuban Revolution, Interpol, and the National Governors Association. Students received multiple awards for their efforts.
The first conference of the year was the local UNCMUNC held at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. The second conference was Princeton University’s PICSim, where Joe Kelley and Hannah Wilson received Verbal Commendations for their work in the Georgia and Interpol committees, respectively.
Nick Rhyne and Ben Lutz both collected Honorable Mentions in their committees of Ukraine and Kosovo, and Dash Jepsen took home the Outstanding Delegate award for his work in the Serbia committee.
The last conference of the season was a team favorite: West Point’s WPSC. Team members met cadets, danced at the military ball, and took part in a round at the electronic shooting range. Ryan Lasnick received an Honorable Mention in the National Governors Association committee at the WPSC conference.
Elon’s Model UN team is now preparing for its own ICCE conference at Elon that team members host for International Relations classes.
