Apply now through Study USA to live, take classes and do an internship in Los Angeles before the April 15 priority application deadline.
Study USA has opened applications for our third Elon in L.A. spring semester program. The semester on the West Coast is open to all majors and offers communications electives, art history, and a theater elective. Accompanying classes is an internship component, which also earns students credit. Previous internship sites have included Ticketmaster, Inside Edition, MTV, Paramount Pictures and College Humor. Students also have apartment-styling housing, just blocks from the infamous Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif.
The program provides opportunities for numerous projects, which can be great additions to a professional portfolio. Students who have participated often collaborate together. One example is through the student-made films and the student PR teams who helped the film gain exposure.
Numerous programming activities are also offered outside of class and internship hours. Students have the chance to partake in behind the scenes tours, networking events with top executives and alumni and film screenings to complement their experience.
Elon in Los Angeles is also open to students of other universities, so all are welcome to apply. Priority applications are due April 15 but will be accepted on a rolling admission basis afterwords.
The program is lead by Communications Professor J. McMerty and Study USA director Phil Smith. Both administrators are willing to meet with or talk with students with questions and concerns. E-mail studyusa@elon.edu or call (336) 278-6765 in order to set up a time.
