Victoria Shropshire, instructor in English, will discuss research she conducted in the archives at the Library of Congress on personal correspondence among Revolutionary War generals Nathanael Greene, George Washington, Charles Cornwallis, and more. Her focus on primary documents and narratives is intended for use in her ENG 255 Topics in Literature course, “Heroes,” to enrich discussions about soldiers as heroes. Shropshire’s research was made possible by a “Sharply Focused Grant” from the Center for Writing Excellence. She’ll talk briefly about the trip, the research, and the plans she has for the documents in the course over bagels and coffee Wednesday, April 23, 9:30-10:30 in Carlton 209.
