Elon alumna receives fellowship in Central America

Rebecca Berube ’12[/caption]Elon University alumna Rebecca Berube has been awarded a fellowship with Princeton in Latin America, a nonprofit that places young, public-sector professionals with partners throughout Latin America for year-long experiences in development work.

Berube will work for Azuero Earth Project in Panama as its education assistant and social media coordinator. Her role in part will be to lead environmental education workshops and curate a web presence for the organization.

Berube graduated in 2012 with a degree in international studies. She was an Honors Fellow, Civic Engagement Scholar, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and a volunteer in the Elon Community Garden during her studies.

Berube is the daughter of Paul Berube and Marilyn Robbins of Christiana, Pennsylvania.

Established in 2002, Princeton in Latin America offers recent college graduates service experiences in Latin America and the Caribbean to “foster the skills, character and compassion necessary to serve as global leaders.” As stated on its website, Princeton in Latin America’s mission “is to match recent graduates from Princeton and other top colleges and universities” who are interested in year-long service fellowship opportunities with partner organizations that are engaged in socially responsible development projects in the region.
