Susan Albertine, vice president for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Student Success at the American Association of Colleges and Universities, will lead a workshop for faculty and staff titled "Reimagining Writing: How to prepare graduates for the lives they will really lead."
This interactive session will begin with the riveting—and real—story of Bre in her first job in Kyrgyzstan. Albertine and the participants will then explore ways that faculty in any discipline can use writing to prepare their students for the unexpected ways in which their lives will unfold.
Participants will leave with a new sense of what the writing in their classes can do for their students and with insights into ways they can use resources available from the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
Before joining AAC&U, Albertine served as dean of the School of Culture and Society and professor of English at the College of New Jersey (2002 to 2008). Previously, she served as vice provost for undergraduate studies at Temple University and assistant to the provost at the University of Pennsylvania.
A former public school teacher, Albertine has been nationally active in advancing pre-school through college alignment, working with the Education Trust and the American Diploma Project. She has served on the boards of many organizations, including the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences.
