Independent Tribune: A bill introduced last week would require school systems to create schematic diagrams of school facilities and then provide a copy to local law enforcement. The diagrams would be exempted from the public records law.
HB 1062, introduced at the start of this year’s short session of the General Assembly, would require local school systems to create schematic diagrams of each school facility. The school systems would then be required to provide copies of the diagrams and a set of keys to local law enforcement agencies. The school systems would also be responsible for updating the diagrams whenever substantial changes to the school buildings are made.
The law would also exempt the school diagrams from public inspection under the public records law.
