Forty-three percent of Elon University students in the Class of 2014 - an all-time high participation rate for the Senior Class Giving Campaign - contributed more than $52,000 this year to support areas of campus close to their hearts.
More than 500 members of Elon University’s Class of 2014 contributed this year to the Senior Class Giving Campaign and, in the process, established a new university record for the participation rate of seniors who give back to their alma mater before graduation.
Class president Connor O’Donnell presented a check Saturday for $52,109.59 to Elon University President Leo M. Lambert in Jordan Gym immediately prior to the Commencement exercises “Under the Oaks” of campus.
Student leaders collected gifts from students, their parents, grandparents and friends to support areas of campus that meant the most to their undergraduate experience. This year’s campaign represented an increase of more than 100 donors from any previous Elon senior giving campaign on record.
O’Donnell, Bridget Fitzgerald, Lauren Reiman, Raven Bennett, Hunt Cable, Maritza Gamboa, Lucy Hazel, Jen Mammel, Janet Ottman, Amanda Parker, Danielle Prongay, Davis Millians, Kelly Smith and Andrew Wolschlag led the campaign by encouraging classmates to demonstrate their commitment to Elon by giving back to the university before graduation.
