Wear racing gear for Staff Appreciation Day Friday and bring non-perishable food to support the race to beat hunger.
If you don’t have any race-themed wear, just dress casually and enjoy all the festivities, including refreshments, lunch, awards and a great keynote speaker.
As part of Staff Appreciation Day activities, the university is sponsoring a canned food drive to benefit Allied Churches of Alamance County. Bring one or more cans of food to contribute to the cause, and you will be entered in a drawing. Prizes include two tickets to the Bank of America 500 in October in Charlotte or the chance for you to be a guest of Ace Speedway in its VIP box at one of the weekly races on Friday nights during the spring or summer.
Schedule for Staff Appreciation Day
- 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. : Registration and refreshments
- 8:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.: Welcome and announcements
- 8:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.: Keynote Speaker
- 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: Refreshment break
- 10:30 a.m. – noon: Annual awards program to honor retirees, recognize staff for years of service and present three Phoenix Staff awards and Staff Members of the Year
- Noon: Lunch at McKinnon Hall, Moseley Center
All programs, except for lunch, will be held in the Center for the Arts. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Please come early enough to register and have refreshments but plan to be in your seat in McCrary Theatre no later than 8:30 a.m. so the program can begin on time. Also, receptacles for canned food donations will be set up in the front of the Fine Arts Center so enter through the front doors to drop off your food donations.
Staff is reminded that offices are generally closed on Staff Appreciation Day. Those who choose not to attend Staff Appreciation Day activities must take Friday, May 30 as a full day of vacation and will not be eligible to receive a gift.
