Employees have the option of working longer days to extend their weekends during June and July.
During the months of June and July, Elon employees can rearrange their schedules to extend their weekends.
Full-time employees must still work 40 hours and a minimum of 4 1/2 days each week, but the flex-time plan allows them to work a half day on Friday or Monday.
- In order to be off Friday afternoons, an employee needs to work nine hours a day Monday through Thursday and four hours on Friday.
- In order to be off Monday mornings, an employee needs to work four hours on Monday and nine hours the rest of the week.
- If an employee works more than six hours in one day, he or she must take a 30-minute lunch break.
Employees who work less than 40 hours a week should speak with their supervisors regarding their options in participating the summer flex-time plan. Regardless of whether employees are using the flex-time plan, all offices and departments need to remain open during regular business hours
Employees are accountable for missed work, even if participating in the flex schedule .For example if an employee is working nine hours for four days of the week and misses work, they are accountable for the missed nine hours.
Employees are only eligible for eight hours of pay for holiday. If the holiday falls on the employees regularly scheduled workday, the employee will be credited with eight hours of holiday pay for the day. Employees may use annual leave or may opt to work additional hours during the rest of the week to maintain their hours of pay for that day.
Participation in the summer flex-time schedule is voluntary. Employees are not required to change their hours and may choose to remain with their regular schedule during the summer
