The two faculty members received training in somatic voicework at the Shenandoah Conservatory.
Department of Music faculty members Hallie Coppedge Hogan and Polly Butler Cornelius traveled this summer to Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia, to attend a week-long Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy Institute.
Created and directed by the renowned pedagogue, Jeanette LoVetri, the CCM Institute offers training in LoVetri’s Somatic Voicework which integrates the knowledge of vocal science, vocal function,and vocal health with bodywork and awareness to unlock the singing voice for any style of singing including classical, pop/rock, country or contemporary musical theatre.
Hogan and Cornelius completed Levels I and II of Somatic Voicework and will travel to Shenendoah next summer to complete their certification in this method.
