Students in the 10-month, full-time master's program have varied backgrounds from across the United States.
Almost three dozen students from a variety of backgrounds began Elon’s 10-month master’s program in Interactive Media on Monday. The 32 students comprise the sixth class in the program’s history.
About half of the iMedia Class of 2015 earned communications-related degrees as undergraduates; others come from majors including environmental studies, art, psychology, musical theater, international studies, business administration and English. They completed their undergraduate degrees at schools such as Elon, UNC-Chapel Hill, Kansas, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Savannah State, North Greenville, UNC-Pembroke, NC State, Western Carolina, Howard, NC Central, East Carolina, Ashland, North Alabama, UNCG and Appalachian State.
Students without a communications background took weeklong primers on media writing and media law. In late July, all students will be participating in a digital media workshop, which will be followed by a full menu of courses in the fall.
Elon’s 10-month, full-time program prepares graduates to think strategically across media platforms; plan and create interactive media content consisting of text, images, sounds, video and graphics; and manage information for interactive news, entertainment and persuasive communications.
