A redesigned home page and global header gives mobile users a better experience navigating the university's website while making it easier for those on campus to find links for email, campus directories, calendars and more.
Elon University launched a redesigned home page on Aug. 18, 2014, that enables users on any device – desktop, tablet or phone – to more easily find campus resources and information.
The redesigned home page features a new global header that consolidates links to almost every page on the Elon University website. Several frequently used links can now be found in the “tools” menu at the top of the page, including OnTrack, Moodle, email, directory searches, maps, calendars and E-net links.
Other notable features include:
- Parents now have their own user dashboard at the top of the home page along with students and faculty/staff.
- Social media links are now prominently displayed in the footer of the home page.
- Important links can now be found in the footer of any page on the university domain: emergency information, space reservations, box office information, bookstore information, and a site index are among those links.
- Information about Phoenix Cards is now found under “Online Services” of the user dashboards at the top of the page for students, faculty and staff.
The redesign was guided by staff in University Communications: Aimee Kensky, assistant director for online communication; Rebecca Bass, web designer; John David Parsons, web applications developer, and Dan Anderson, vice president for University Communications.
