The associate director of Study Abroad at Elon University traveled to Indiana in July 2014 for the highly competitive program.
Paul Geis, associate director of Study Abroad at Elon University, graduated this summer as an Institute Scholar from IFSA-Butler’s Institute at the Institute.
The I@I is an annual conference in Indianapolis that gathers early- and mid-career study abroad professionals to discuss topics of critical importance to the field of global education. The scholars are mentored by past I@I scholars and other internationally recognized professionals.
Selection for the I@I is highly competitive, requiring a letter of application and strong nominations from colleagues in the field. It is designed to bring rising professionals together to form networks as they prepare for leadership positions. Seventeen scholars were selected nationally this year.
This year’s conference focused on risk and crisis management in education abroad and featured discussions and real-world exercises facilitated by experts in these fields. The Institute Scholars brainstormed with the I@I Mentors on plans and projects that they will implement on their home campuses.
The Institute at the Institute is organized by the Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (IFSA-Butler), one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit study abroad programs.
