Professor of Music Thomas Erdmann has two articles published in a professional saxophone journal.
Professor Thomas Erdmann in the Department of Music had two articles published in the September/October 2014 issue of Saxophone Today.
The first is on Co-founder of the Muscle Shoals Horn Section, Ronnie Eades. Eades is featured on over 400 recordings with artists as diverse as the Osmonds, Liza Minnelli, Etta James, Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker, Cat Stevens, the Rolling Stones, Boz Scaggs, Willie Nelson, Art Garfunkel, Rod Stewart, and Bobby Womack. Included in his recorded legacy are Aretha Franklin’s Respect and The Staple Sisters’ I’ll Take You There. He soloed on many recordings but his most famous solo is on Ronnie Milsap’s 1981 hit, There’s No Gettin’ Over Me. Among the many artists Eades has toured with include Elton John and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The second article is on touring classical saxophonist and Professor of Saxophone at Georgia State University, Jan Berry Baker. Baker also performs regularly with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Grant Park Orchestra, Chicago Philharmonic, and the Atlanta Opera.
