The Elon women's ultimate team traveled to Virginia this past weekend to compete in their first tournament of the season!
The team first faced the UNC squad, playing in a competitive match and coming out on top with a score of 12-6, playing to cap. Next, the team took on George Washington – ranked 6th in the tournament, continuing their winning streak with a score of 13-2. It was an enjoyable, good-spirited match. The last game of the day landed Elon against the JMU team, a team they had never played before and that was seeded 2nd in the tournament. It was an intense match, but Elon came out on top again, winning 13-6! Elon began their second day of the tournament with another victory over William & Mary, 13-1. For the final game of pool play, Elon faced Maryland – the other undefeated team in the pool – losing in a hard fought match 10-4. Elon’s overall great performance landed them in the championship bracket, facing UVA in the semifinals and coming up short with a 4-13 loss. This placed the team against Maryland again to play for 3rd place. In the end, the team came to a mutual agreement with Maryland to tie for 3rd out of the 13 teams that attended! It was overall a successful, fun weekend for the women’s ultimate team!
