Elon outscored Methodist 9-6 after a 14-inning competition.
The Elon Club Baseball team had a game against Methodist this past weekend. While the team was scheduled to play two 7-inning games, the first one resulted in a tie; the teams decided to combine the games to make one 14-inning competition.
At the close of the game, Elon proved victorious, outscoring Methodist 9-6. The victory was made possible by great pitching performances from a total of seven different players.
Michael Roberts had a stellar performance on the mound, pitching three scoreless innings and giving up only two hits and pitching four strike-outs. Will Flood was also dominant, pitching the first two innings of the game and allowing only one base runner who never made it past first base. At the plate, the offensive production was led by Ben “Cuda” Koffel, as he went 2 for 4, with two stolen bases and an RBI. Overall, the team is off to a very strong start to the season, with lots of room for improvement!
