Jamie Sclater ’02, who is representing the U.S. Marine Corps, has won several gold and silver medals in his division for swimming at the 2014 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs.
U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Jamie Sclater finished first in his division of the 100-meter breaststroke, 100-meter freestyle and 50-meter breaststroke at the 2014 Warrior Games in Colorado on Sept. 30. He also finished second in the 50-meter backstroke and 50-meter freestyle competitions. He will be competing in shooting (air rifle prone shooting) Friday.
A native of Annandale, Va., the hospital corpsman and sniper is the only Navy personnel competing with the Marine team, which is comprised of both active duty and veteran wounded, ill and injured Marines who are attached to or supported by the Wounded Warrior Regiment, the official unit of the Marine Corps charged with providing comprehensive non-medical recovery care to wounded, ill and injured Marines.
The Warrior Games are a Paralympic-style competition for more than 200 wounded, ill and injured service members and are taking place Sept. 28 to Oct. 4 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Sclater graduated from Elon in 2002 with a degree in exercise/sport science and was active with the Delta Pi Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. A 2012 Elon University Top 10 Under 10 Award recipient, Sclater has received numerous honors, including the Army Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps achievement medals and the Navy and Marine Corps commendation medals.
