Elon Law Professor Henry Gabriel recently published scholarship and presented internationally on topics that address the regional harmonization of trade law, agricultural development and the future of international trade law.
His article, “Mandatory Rules as Limitations on the Freedom of Contract in the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts,” is forthcoming in The Protection Project Journal of Human Rights and Civil Society.
As part of a worldwide project on agricultural development jointly sponsored by the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization and the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law, in September, Gabriel chaired an intergovernmental meeting in Bangkok of government representatives from Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.
In addition, Gabriel recently spoke on the development of the law of electronic transferable records at a United Nations Conference on Promoting Regional Harmonization of Trade Law in Pretoria, South Africa.
In September, Gabriel presented research at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Bangkok, Thailand, on current work in international commercial law. He recently presented a staff seminar at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa on the future of international trade law conventions.
