The Department of Physical Therapy Education recently hosted a two-day continuing education course for 140 North Carolina physical therapists including program alumni, clinical instructors and the DPT class of 2014.
The course, “Mobilizing the Medically Complex Acute Care Patient: An Evidenced Based Model,” was presented by Dr. Ellen Hillegass, a nationally renowned board certified cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy clinical specialist. She is also a fellow of both the APTA and the American Association of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, editor of the textbook “Essentials in Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy” and author of “PT Clinical Notes.”
The course stressed evidenced-based clinical decisions to ensure the early and safe mobilization of complex hospital patients.
