The National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities represents private nonprofit higher education
[/caption]Elon University President Leo M. Lambert has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). The association represents institutions on policy issues with the federal government, such as those affecting student aid, taxation and government regulation.
The NAICU board consists of 47 members, including 24 presidents of member colleges and universities that are elected in eight geographic regions. Lambert’s term begins in February 2015.
“I am pleased to join the NAICU board and be involved in the national conversation about critical issues currently facing higher education,” Lambert said. “In coming months, Congress will be considering reauthorization of the Higher Education Act. The impact on federal financial aid and access to higher education will be profound for millions of students.”
In addition to the upcoming service on the NAICU board, Lambert has provided leadership for many other higher education organizations. Lambert chairs the board of directors of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
