Professor of Music Thomas Erdmann had two articles published in a professional saxophone journal.
Professor Thomas Erdmann in the Department of Music had two articles published in the January/February 2015 issue of Saxophone Journal.
The first article is on Steve Goodson. As a professional saxophonist Goodson has toured and/or recorded with Solomon Burke, Chubby Checker, pretty much everybody who has ever been on the Motown label, Joey Dee, Dr. John, Jesse Hill, Ernie K-Doe, Edwin McCain, Eddie Money, and Vince Vance, among others. Currently Goodson manufactures his own line of saxophones, which are being played by the top artists in the world including Tom Scott.
Goodson is also featured in a number of DVDs about saxophone manufacturing and is a frequent clinician regarding saxophone repair.
The second article is on New York freelance jazz saxophonist Laura Dreyer. Some of the artists with whom she has worked include Walter Bishop Jr., Nnenna Freelon, Mel Lewis, James McBride, Rufus Reid, Akira Tana, Dr. Billy Taylor, and rock legend Robert Palmer.
