2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the death of Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring, a book that kick-started the environmental movement. Musil is an environmental leader who influences policy through his scholarship and various leadership roles. His recent book, Rachel Carson and Her Sisters: Extraordinary Women Who Have Shaped America’s Environment, reveals a broad network of women scientists and activists who significantly contributed to the environmental movement.
