The university's home page won the People's Choice Best Redesign Award in a contest hosted by eduStyle.
Elon University’s website was honored this winter with the People’s Choice Best Redesign Award from an online design gallery dedicated to higher education websites and managed by higher education web design professionals.
The Office of University Communications last year redesigned Elon’s home page into a responsive format, which allows visitors to easily see stories, photos, videos and more regardless of whether they are using phones, tablets or desktop computers.
The redesign was recognized in an annual awards program hosted by the online gallery eduStyle. Each year an eduStyle awards committee selects five sites in each of several design categories and opens the contest to online voting in addition to formal judging.
The website aims to help higher education web professionals learn from and be inspired by the work of their peers. There are currently more than 6,000 sites in the gallery and a community of more than 4,000 actives users.
University Communications staff members Aimee Kensky, Rebecca Bass and John David Parsons led redesign efforts to use photos, graphics and stories to showcase Elon’s approach to engaged learning, its student and faculty achievements, and the growth of its campus.
“For many people, after hearing about Elon, our website is their first source of information to learn how our campus community impacts the world,” said Kensky, the university’s assistant director for online communications. “It’s an honor to be recognized by higher education website professionals who believe we’ve been successful in sharing those stories.”
