Elon students honored in local film showcase

Former elondocs members Madeline Carlin and Alex Hadden had their respective films selected for the 2012 filmSPARK Shorts Showcase.

Madeline Carlin’s film details the life of two partners, Frank Benedetti and Gary Trowbridge, living in Winston-Salem.[/caption]Congratulations to former elondocs members Madeline Carlin and Alex Hadden whose films have been selected for the 2012 filmSPARK Shorts Showcase held in downtown Raleigh. Madeline’s film, “We Will Prevail,” details the life of two partners, Frank Benedetti and Gary Trowbridge, living in Winston-Salem and follows them both before and after the passing of Amendment One. It captures some of the challenges the couple has to deal with living as a same-sex couple in the South. Alex Hadden’s film, “Beyond Superman,” explores the lesser-known world of the comic book industry. He covers all links in the chain of comic book creation and follows an artist, Marvel editor and comic book store owner. The filmSPARK showcase not only features documentaries, but also includes films in the categories of Drama, Comedy, Thriller, Animation, Experimental and Music Video as well.
