Each year, MAIP selects multicultural students to participate in a 10-week, full-time, paid summer internship at the association’s participating agencies nationwide.
After an extensive application process that consisted of a cover letter video and four essays pertaining to the advertising industry, Jackson received a strategic/account planning internship at Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide in New York City. One of the largest marketing communications companies in the world, the agency boasts clients such as Johnson & Johnson, Coca-Cola and Google.
Today, Ogilvy & Mather has more than 450 offices in 162 cities worldwide.
Jackson is the second School of Communications student to earn an internship at the international agency. Yasmine Arrington ’15, a strategic communications and history double major, interned with Ogilvy & Mather in summer 2014.
At Elon, Jackson is an account supervisor at Live Oak Communications, a student-run strategic communications agency. The junior serves as a project manager for two of Live Oak’s clients: Durham Arts Council, a nonprofit committed to supporting the arts in Durham and the Triangle region, and Pro Feet, a Burlington-based sports performance sock brand.
Additionally, Jackson is a marketing intern with Elon’s online health magazine, Student Health 101, and a student-athlete on the university’s track and field team, where she competes in sprinting events.
