The fair featured nearly 50 booths including both on-campus organizations and local businesses from the Burlington and Greensboro areas. It took place this year on the same day as Elon Day, a celebration of the university’s 126th birthday and the largest day of giving in school history.
The Wellness Center sponsors the annual fair and raffled off dozens of prizes to the faculty, staff and students who attended the fair. Winners announced March 12 can claim their prizes from Student Health and Wellness.
One of the most popular booths featured rabbits, cats and dogs in strollers. Kopper Top Life and Learning Center brought some of their therapy animals to interact with visitors. Executive director Deborah Meredith said their facility loves interacting with the campus community.
“We want to show people what the healing powers of animals can do,” Meredith said.
The Extension Master Gardener program from North Carolina State University featured a large booth at the show encouraging faculty and staff to consider new approaches to gardening. Horticulture extension agent Mark Danieley said he enjoyed interacting with faculty, staff and students.
“There are so many possibilities when it comes to gardening, and we just want to get our message to as many people as possible,” Danieley said.
Other organizations at the fair have a home on Elon’s campus. Sparks junior peer educator Ana Sophia Adamez said she felt everyone was interested in the Sparks booth.
“I hope people walk out of here with a good idea of the services Sparks can provide,” Adamez said.
Wellness Center staff members said they were very happy with the turnout and grateful for those who attended.
