The fifth annual gratitude event, held April 14-16, celebrated the impact of philanthropy at Elon by encouraging members of the campus community to write thank-you notes to university donors.
More than 1,100 handwritten thank-you notes were collected during the recently concluded “A Thousand Thanks,” an annual event that gives Elon students, faculty and staff an opportunity to express appreciation to university donors.
Writing stations were available at four campus locations, as well as Pandora’s Pies and The Oak House on North Williamson Avenue. New this year were thank-you signs posted outside campus buildings reminding passersby of the donors who made the facilities possible.
One student wrote directly to Maurice Koury, who named the Koury Business Center in honor of his brother, Ernest Koury ’40: “Thank you for your generous support of Elon. The business school is the crown jewel of this university, and I and many of my classmates consider it our home away from home (especially when we’re studying long into the night).”
Concluded another student in a separate note: “Thank you so much for helping transform the lives of Elon students! Your support inspires me to work hard and make you proud.”
