Join us for a conversation with author Frances Fuller about her spiritual memoir of her 30 years living in the Middle East
Faith and Love in Wartime Lebanon
May 7, 5:15 p.m.
McBride Gathering Space, Numen Lumen Pavilion
Frances Fuller lived and worked through war and violence for 30 years in the Middle East, serving for 24 years as the director of a Christian publishing program based in Lebanon.
Her critically acclaimed spiritual memoir – In Borrowed Houses – captures her personal story of love and faith, including her love for Lebanon and its people, and provides a stunning portrait of a beautiful and courageous country. As one reviewer noted, “We come to know Lebanon and see its grandeur and the strength and faith of its people.”
This is not your typical missionary story, but a profound account of multifaith and multicultural engagement and love. Frances Fuller offers a timely and hopeful perspective on the Middle East.
In Borrowed Houses is a 2015 Illumination Book Award recipient for exemplary Christian books and the winner of the 2014 50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading contest by The Authors Show.
Critics have praised Fuller’s compassion and insight, as well as the vivid portrayal of family life amidst war-torn Lebanon. Colin Chapman, lecturer in Islamic Studies at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut, writes, “Western Christians and Middle Eastern Christians need to read this story … full of remarkable perceptiveness and genuine hope.”
The event includes conversation with the author at 5:15 p.m. in the McBride Gathering Space, Numen Lumen Pavilion, followed by a reception. All are welcome.
