Wondering what to do with that perfectly good item you don’t want to pack? Donation Stations are set up throughout campus May 13-27 to collect donations which go to local charities and assist those in need in Alamance County.
For the seventh year in a row, students will have an opportunity as they move away from campus for the summer to donate usable items such as food, furniture, clothing and blankets to community agencies that help those in need.
Students living on campus can drop items at the donation station in their residential neighborhood. Students living off campus, as well as faculty and staff, can drop items off directly at the Habitat for Humanity and Goodwill trucks parked in the Oaks residential neighborhood lot. The trucks will be open for donations from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Accepted Donations:
- Unopened, nonperishable food
- CLEAN sheets, blankets & comforters
- Furniture
- CLEAN clothing and miscellaneous housewares
These items are donated to Allied Churches, First Presbyterian Church, Habitat for Humanity and Goodwill respectively.
A FAQ sheet answers general questions about what to donate and donation station locations.
There will not be a separate drive for electronics this year. Working electronics (with the exception of TVs) can be donated to Goodwill. Broken electronics can be placed in the ‘small electronics’ recycling bins located throughout campus. Here is a map of electronics recycling locations.
This campaign was initiated by the Truitt Center for Spiritual and Religious Life. It is currently coordinated by the Office of Sustainability in partnership with Residence Life, Greek Life, Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement, Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity, Allied Churches, First Presbyterian Church and Hospice of Alamance Caswell.
