The Sport and Event Management Department hosted a May 7 event to present projects students have worked on throughout the spring 2015 semester.
The Sport and Event Management Department hosted its Project Palooza on May 7, providing students from eight courses (and 11 total sections) with a platform to present their semester-long projects.
The third floor of the Powell Building was abuzz during the late-afternoon event with students sharing presentations, exhibiting posters and discussing research. A Project Palooza photo gallery is available on the School of Communications’ Flickr page.
In Powell 302, the department hosted nearly two consecutive hours of student presentations, featuring sport marketing pitches and discussions of capstone experiences.
The marketing pitches included proposals for new mobile applications and exclusive social meetups for fans of ESPN Fantasy Baseball, Tough Mudder events and Major League Soccer.
In two nearby classrooms, SEM students led nearly 40 poster presentations, detailing venue management plans, individual research prospectus and event analysis projects. The student poster presenters rotated every 40 minutes to showcase different topics.
The poster topics highlighted a multitude of different subjects, including the impact of conference realignment, the NFL and violence against women, and African-American student-athlete experience.
