The professor of physics has been invited to serve as a member of an advisory board for the National Speech and Debate Association.
The National Speech and Debate Association (formerly the National Forensic League) was founded in 1925 and hosts the largest academic competition in the world, the National Speech and Debate Tournament. It also sets the national agenda for speech and debate.
The Association is embarking on a new project to pilot debates investigating questions relating to deeply held, worldview beliefs. It has reached out to a body of experts including Elon University Professor Pranab Das to help formulate debate topics, suggest instructional materials, and develop debate formats during a startup period in 2015.
