The professor of music had an article published in the professional trumpet journal.
Professor Thomas Erdmann in the Department of Music had his article, “Making It Himself,” published in the June 2015 issue of the International Trumpet Guild Journal.
The article is on cornet and jazz legend Warren Vache, best known for having played lead trumpet with Benny Goodman for 10 years. Vache went to Montclair State College, and upon graduation immediately began a professional career that has lasted for the past 50-plus years.
In addition to Goodman, some of the gigs Vache has had include having worked as a featured soloist with Tommy Dorsey’s big band, recorded a long series of very popular albums with tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton, toured with the Concord Records All-Star Band, and currently plays once a week in New York with vocalist Annie Ross.
