As the culmination of a long-time dream unfolds, Elon alumna looks forward to traveling, pursuing her passions, and fulfilling her desire to learn alongside best friends Belle and Cruella de Vil.
During her first year at Elon, Karrah Fleshman remembers hearing a senior talk about auditioning to be a part of the Disney princess cast.
“I just sat and thought of how amazing that would be, never thinking it could actually happen,” she says. “But I also thought the same about getting into Elon’s Music Theatre program.”
Not only did Fleshman complete the program, but soon after, those dreams of joining the Disney cast would become a reality as well. Though she had been invited to a final callback in New York as a result of a video submission for another performance opportunity, her audition for the Disney Cruise Line was her first open call in the city. Two and a half weeks after this open call, she received the news that she was cast.
Though it is still “surreal” for Fleshman to think that she will begin rehearsals within the month, she is motivated knowing that the marketable technique, sense of professionalism and confidence that Elon helped her develop and refine is what allowed her to successfully land this job. She believes her experience from Elon, Bigfork Summer Playhouse and North Carolina Theatre will help her transition smoothly into this professional setting.
As she looks forward to traveling, and working with performers from across the world, she is also humbled by the opportunity to reach children of all ages with such timeless characters and stories. “I get to be a part of hundreds of families’ memories that will be treasured for years to come. It doesn’t get much better than that,” she says.
