Kathy Lyday, a professor in the Department of English, presented at the 19th Union Melungeon Gathering held at Warren Wilson College, June 25-27, 2015.
Her presentation discussed the 21st Century stereotyping of Melungeons in Alex Bledsoe’s Tufa series of urban fantasy novels. Lyday serves on the Board of Directors for the Melungeon Heritage Association and was also recently intereviewed in an article about the Melungeons and the gathering in the Asheville Citizen-Times that ran on USA Today‘s mobile feed last week.
