Jason Mitcham, Future Histories
Gallery 406, Arts West
Artist talk, 5:30 p.m.
Mitcham, a 2012 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow in Interdisciplinary Work, is primarily a painter, although his work has expanded into the realm of video, creating stop-motion animations from paintings. His videos explore the development of our society’s landscapes, specifically notions of temporality, suburbia and modern ruins. One of his recent animations was premiered on National Public Radio’s website and included in the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival. Exhibition continues through November 20.
