Janet MacFall, associate professor of environmental studies and biology, has been awarded a one-year grant for $25,000 from The North Carolina Department of Commerce, Rural Economic Development Division, for her project, Beyond Farmers Markets—Planning for a networked produce storage and aggregation system for the Piedmont Region.
The award will be used to develop a regional network of locally produced foods, identifying aggregation and distribution hub potentials.
